You know what the first rule of flying is? …Love. You can learn all the math in the ‘verse, but you take a boat in the air you don’t love, she’ll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta’ fall down, tells you she’s hurtin’ ‘fore she keens. Makes her a home.

This kind of reminds me of that scene in Batman Begins where Christian Bale saves Liam Neeson from falling off the cliff using just one hand, except that was Hollywood so it probably never happened.

Dinner at Flour + Water

fritesandfries:

During my business trip to San Francisco last week, there were times where I ate non-stop for hours and hours for legitimate business-y purposes. Awesome and not so awesome at the same time but all that food still didn’t stop me from visiting the restaurants I really wanted to go to. Restaurants change all the time and who knows what will still be there when/if I make it back. I had a long list of restaurants to visit and if I had a month to spare, I would try to hit all of them. You know you are a restaurant/food fanatic when you have a list. A long list.

I didn’t hit all of the restaurants on my list in that short week of course but at least I hit the ones on the very top. One of them was Flour + Water. One thing you should know about this place is they’re usually pretty booked. Even though they do have seats for walk-ins, it still gets pretty packed. If you hate waiting, don’t walk in unless if you’re a party of one or two and your party arrives by 6pm.  We didn’t have reservations but we were able to score bar seats. Halfway through our tasting menu, I could totally feel the hungry diners eying us and wondering when we were done eating. If you do have to wait, you might be tempted to leave and go get trashed at the Pantone-inspired Trick Dog cocktail bar down the street. I prefer carbs over cocktails though but it’s your choice. See what we ate after the jump.
